What Are Some Good Cities For Gay Vacations To Mexico

For a vacation filled with a combination of culture, history, and fun, consider Mexico. You can find big cities packed with night clubs or ancient ruins from long ago. Whether you’re looking for a couple’s trip or a singles excursion, gay vacations to Mexico can be designed whatever you want.

The country of Mexico is very welcoming to tourists. While the Catholic religion heavily influences the country, the people are known for being friendly and accepting. It is easy to find activities and accommodations marketed as gay friendly. The entire country accepts civil unions for gay people, while Mexico City has legalized both marriage and adoption for same sex couples. There are also anti-discrimination laws enforced throughout the nation.

Mexico City is the largest city in the world and filled with culture and history. There are more than one hundred and fifty museums in this city alone. Sites to see include colonial mansions and the third largest pyramid in the world. There is a variety of lodging to appeal to many different tastes. You can find anything from an affordable Bed and Breakfast to high end luxury hotels.

The city was one of this first in Mexico to legalize same sex marriage. It has a large gay community, the center of which is called La Zona Rosa (The Pink Zone). It is named after the color of the cobblestones. The neighborhood is also packed with gay friendly dance clubs, but the party starts early. Many of the locals ride public transportation, which shuts down at eleven pm, so the clubs may be filled to capacity a little earlier than you might expect.

Puerto Vallarta is one of the most popular spots on the west coast. This is a quaint town that has developed over the years to provide modern convenience with ATMs and internet cafes. Take advantage of tours to the hot springs or take an excursion into the jungle with a river hike.

PV is a popular stop for the gay traveler. You can relax and enjoy fine dining in an upscale restaurant or go horseback riding when you want an escapade. There are a number of gay beaches, but you might be able to sight a school of dolphins or whales on the Playa Los Muertos. Drag shows and gay bingo are fun night time diversions.

Cancun is not just a Spring Break destination. This is the place for anyone who wants a beach vacation with the right price tag. This island was made for tourism, and the beaches are beautiful. Head to downtown Cancun to get away from the tourist traps and find local shopping and restaurants.

Cancun is slowly emerging as a gay hot spot, though at one time it was known for having no official gay beach. That has changed with a crop of gay bars and a beach that is located at the south end of the hotel zone called Playa Delfines. In May there is the Cancun International Gay Festival and in November there is the Cancun Riviera Maya Gay Fall Festival.

These cities are only the beginning. There are many more options to choose from for those looking for gay travel to Mexico. The wonderful weather, beautiful surroundings, and friendly people keep tourists coming back for more every year.
