Travel Guide - Hong Kong Admiralty

Admiralty in Hong Kong is an interesting place because of its history. For many years, Admiralty was the British military area where they built barracks and docks. For years, the Hong Kong government tried to get this piece of land to connect the other urban areas of Hong Kong Island but the military refused. Finally in the 1970s, control was given back to the government where they turned it into the place it is today. This is the reason why much of Hong Kong will have dated architecture and building while Admiralty has almost mainly newer style buildings.

Admiralty is located between Central and Wan Chai. Apart from all the commercial buildings in the area, Pacific Place, a rather large shopping mall is in this area along with hotels like Conrad and Marriot. Also of note is Queensway Plaza which sits right on top of the MTR station, connecting much of Admiralty through underground walkways filled with shops.

As a transit MTR station connecting the Kowloon Tsuen Wan Line with the Hong Kong Island Line, admiralty is one of the busiest MTR stations in Hong Kong.

Admiralty is really a fun place to be for those that are looking for mid to high end shopping!
