Moving to the Caribbean from an area such as the United States will prove to be a drastic change in scenery. The locals may not be tolerant of any shortcomings you have, so it is better to learn about your new luxurious lifestyle before leaving instead of learning the hard way.

The majority of the Caribbean islands are not self-sufficient in terms of food and other materials. It has to be imported so that the island’s residents can lead a normal life. That means that you should be prepared to be without certain types of food, accept a lack in variety for some seasons, and generally understand that you might have to give up certain foods.

Even when you are living in luxury in your own personal paradise, there is a condition of feeling claustrophobic while on the island that visitors commonly experience. While in the United States you are able to travel as you please, yet while on the island you are more constricted in your options. Taking an annual trip can offset this feeling. Locals like to make conversations- sometimes even at the expense of holding up a line waiting to buy groceries, for example. The transition may be slow, but is necessary to be in accord with the locals.

The politeness of the general population in the Caribbean is very impressive. This goes along with the idea that the locals lead a slower paced life. You will, for instance, be talking to others and exchanging pleasantries more often. You may even find yourself stuck behind a vehicle that has stopped to talk to an acquaintance. Whatever the case, you will seldom find a citizen that treats you with ill respect or is in any way rude.

There are plenty of luxurious properties to choose from in the Caribbean. Even if you don’t have a lot of money to spend, there are plenty of great middle-class homes to purchase via real estate agencies found online. Some islands are more geared towards the wealthy, so you will need to talk to a real estate agent familiar with the Caribbean if you are going to find a good fit.
