I regularly use priceline.com because of its name your own price feature. For those that aren’t aware yet, priceline lets you put a price to your trip and see if any companies will take your offer. What this allows you to do is pay a much less money for the same trip.
The great thing about it is that it allows you to name a price for car rentals, hotels and airfares. To avoid people just bidding a very low amount and increasing it slightly and re-bid, priceline has a time restriction on how many bids can go out without the need to change your requirements. For example, if I bid $15 dollars per day for a compact size car and no companies accept that price, I cannot bid for another 24 hours. However, the website lets you change the car class and re-bid, so if you aren’t very picky, you will quickly be able to find a good price that everyone can accept.
I use this service regularly. Just the other day, I was able to get a rental car for $18 per day while a quick search would cost me $55 per day. If that’s not enough savings to warrant you to try, I don’t know what will.
