Holidays to Greek Islands are very popular and there are many islands you can visit. Crete has a very rich history as well as gorgeous mountains and is the 5th largest island in the Mediterranean. The eastern side of the island is completely built up for tourists with bars and hotels. However the west side is still gorgeous and you can find many empty beaches and a gorgeous coastline. The weather is always nice and the winters are very mild.

Another island that has plenty of nature to explore is Skopelos as this island is blanketed in pine forests. There are not many beaches as much of the coast is cliffs but there are lush and beautiful olive and plum groves to explore. The hillside is also dotted with churches and monasteries. Due to its proximity to other islands Skopelos is a very popular day trip.

Santorini is a very popular island and was actually formed form a volcano. There is a still an active volcano off shore and you can still see the smoke coming out. Santorini is a perfect luxury destination and many cruise ships stop here for the nightlife.

The island of Mykonos is really a granite block but the many houses make it quite picturesque. This island was once a hit spot for the young and single but has since mellowed into a great family destination. Many people also get married on the island as there are many wedding services offered.

I rugged but beautiful island is Ikaria. This island is associated with the legend of Icarus, has some great thermal springs and produces excellent red wine.
